Last June, we were approached via telephone with a very strange request: “Would your Circus like to be host to a Murder or possibly two this Autumn?”
Well, after the initial shock, we discovered the call was genuine and wasn’t as seemed, it was a call from the Bentley Production Team that have created the worldwide hit detective programme, Midsomer Murders.
Who could refuse?? We agreed and now the team had found the Circus, the Murders could be planned!
Several months of discussions then went by between ourselves and the Team, with many meetings around the Country on deciding the episode and how it could be staged.
With this, our Artistes then needed to help train some of the actors to perform certain Circus skills and our technical advice assisted throughout all the Circus scenes. The two oldest Miller daughters, Charlotte and Jodi, in fact, becoming stunt doubles in this particular episode for both Lorraine Ashbourne ( Daniella) and Joni Kamen ( Sophia )!
Eventually, with the early morning mists of September arriving, a very excited Circus crew were all to be involved in these dastardly deeds. As the mainstay of our Circus was set up in Buckinghamshire, initial filming commenced, and it is at this time the story unfolds with our show being seen by Joe, one of two young brothers.
At the same time, but at another location, in the village of “Swynton Magna”we set up another of our other Big Tops so the set could be laid for the main fi lm shoot and inevitably, the murders.
Apologies, but we obviously can’t tell you whodunit, however, the new series, Episode 6, Send In The Clowns, due out in 2018, will reveal all. You will, therefore, need to tune in to see and as soon as we know a date, we will let you know on our Facebook Page.
We can give you a little teaser on the story line, however, which stars Neil Dudgeon, Nick Hendrix and Jason Watkins.
